Youths of Akwa Ibom State, under the umbrella of Akwa Ibom Youth United, have formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno for a second term in office beyond 2027, citing what they described as transformative leadership and people-oriented governance at both federal and state levels.
The endorsement was announced at a press conference held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, by the member representing Oron/Mbo/Okobo/Udung Uko/Urue Offong Oruko Federal Constituency, Hon. Martin Esin, and Chairman of the House Committee on Youth Development, Hon. Uwemedimo Ndianaabasi Asuquo, who spoke on behalf of Akwa Ibom youths.
Addressing journalists, the Hon. Esin described the endorsement as a patriotic act aimed at consolidating gains recorded under the current administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the Tinubu-led government had demonstrated uncommon courage in taking difficult but necessary economic decisions to reposition the country for sustainable growth.
He referenced the removal of fuel subsidy as a turning point, saying it had led to increased revenues for states and local governments, revived developmental projects, and boosted social investment programs targeting youths, children, and the elderly.
He further noted that Nigerians had enjoyed three consecutive Christmas seasons without fuel scarcity, a development he said had eased transportation challenges and stabilized prices.
The youths also commended Senate President Godswill Akpabio for what they termed his “legislative dexterity and patriotic leadership,” stressing that his role had been critical in ensuring that key executive policies received the necessary legislative backing to become operational.
At the state level, Governor Umo Eno was praised for what the youths described as a governance revolution anchored on the ARISE Agenda. They highlighted major achievements, including the strengthening of Ibom Air, the completion of the international terminal at the Victor Attah International Airport, the ongoing construction of an Aviation Village, and the delivery of nearly 1,000 kilometers of roads across the state within two and a half years.
Other achievements cited include the spread of people-oriented projects such as ARISE Compassionate Homes, model schools, and healthcare centers across all 31 local government areas; clearance of gratuity and pension backlogs estimated at about ₦70 billion; and large-scale youth empowerment through the Ibom Leadership and Entrepreneurial Development Centre and Dakadda Skills Acquisition Centre.
The youths further applauded policies that have expanded youth participation in governance, including appointments at ward and local government levels, the establishment of Ibom Community Watch, and the entrustment of key ministries, agencies, and major contracts to qualified young people.
They also acknowledged improvements in free and compulsory education, the introduction of a health insurance scheme for all residents, and what they described as the governor’s inclusive leadership style, which they said has fostered unity and peaceful coexistence across the state.
Concluding the briefing, the youths said continuity was necessary to consolidate the gains recorded so far, formally endorsing President Tinubu, Senate President Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno for a second term in office beyond 2027.
