The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed its sorrow over the death of Senator Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi at the age of 67, referring to him as a veteran politician.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka, it was noted, “Senator Nwaoboshi was a veteran politician, a resolute democrat, and a devoted stalwart of our great party.”
The statement continued, “As a federal lawmaker, he represented the Delta North Senatorial District in the 8th and 9th Senate and served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Niger Delta. He became the first APC Senator representing Delta North when he transitioned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to our party in June 2021.
As a two-term Chairman of the PDP in Delta State and the party’s pioneer Secretary in the state, he played a significant role in establishing and strengthening the party’s structure, earning him the nickname ‘political oracle.’
During his tenure as Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Niger Delta, he championed economic empowerment for his constituents and advocated for equitable development across the region. Senator Nwaoboshi leaves behind an impressive legacy of public service to the nation. As a grassroots mobilizer and a fearless advocate for equity, inclusion, and fairness, his passing has created a profound void that will be difficult to fill.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, political associates, the government, and the good people of Delta State during this challenging time.
“Amazing Grace! Amazing Grace! May His Grace lead him home! May the soul of our dearly departed Senator Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi find eternal rest in the Lord,” the party added.
