BANDIT SYNDICATE BUSTED: Sokoto Police Smash Criminal Cell, Arrest Suspected Rustlers, Drug Supplier in Kware

In a decisive operation that sent a strong message to criminal elements across Sokoto State, the Police Command has arrested four suspected bandits and cattle rustlers believed to be behind series of attacks, thefts and terrorizing communities in the Wamakko and Kware local government areas.

The breakthrough came on October 4, 2025, following credible intelligence that a group of men previously known to residents of Sabon Birni Village in Kware Local Government Area had resurfaced after months of hiding in the bush, where they were suspected of engaging in banditry.

Acting swiftly on the tip off, operatives of the Anti Kidnapping Tactical Unit stormed the suspects’ hideout in a well coordinated raid that led to the arrest of four key members of the gang that include Bubale Muh’d,Bammo Tanimu, Maluma Arzika and Bilal Umar identified as the gang’s drug supplier

During the operation, Bilal Umar was found in possession of a quantity of illicit drugs believed to be used to embolden the group before attacks. Incriminating evidence retrieved from the suspects’ mobile phones included videos of them brandishing rifles in what appeared to be their bandit camp clear proof of their criminal involvement.

According to the Sokoto State Commissioner of Police, the success of the operation underscores the Command’s firm resolve to rid the state of criminal networks threatening peace and stability.

“This operation is a testament to our unwavering commitment to rooting out criminal elements and restoring safety to our communities. The arrest of these individuals, especially their drug supplier, marks a major breakthrough in dismantling the network that fuels violence in the region,” the Commissioner stated.

Community members, who recognized the suspects as familiar faces before they turned to crime, reportedly alerted security agents after noticing their sudden display of wealth — spending lavishly in the village despite having no visible means of income.

Investigations are currently in top gear, with police authorities working to trace and apprehend other members of the syndicate believed to be operating within and beyond the area.

The Sokoto State Police Command reaffirmed its dedication to protecting lives and property, emphasizing the importance of intelligence driven operations and community collaboration in sustaining security.

In his closing message, DSP Ahmad Rufai, the Police Public Relations Officer, urged residents to remain vigilant and proactive:

“When you see something, say something and the Police will do something.”

Through strengthened intelligence networks, community trust, and tactical precision, the Sokoto State Command continues its determined fight to reclaim the state from the grip of criminal syndicates.
