Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has condemned the abduction of schoolchildren in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The governor, who made the condemnation in a post on his Facebook page Tuesday, described the abduction as a “tragedy that strikes at the very heart of our communities”.
Governor Mohammed, who led a delegation of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, to Ibadan at the weekend to express solidarity with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, said the visit was to offer genuine support during this incredibly difficult period and to convey APM’s sympathy to Makinde and Oyo people.
He said, “The targeting of innocent schoolchildren calls for an urgent need for leaders across political divides to work together to address the nation’s security challenges through a united, non-partisan approach.”
Bala Mohammed prayed for the safe return of the abducted children and stressed the need for unity among political leaders in tackling insecurity.
He also congratulated Makinde on securing his party’s presidential ticket for the forthcoming elections and commended his leadership and the progress recorded in Oyo State.
The delegation included APM National Chairman Yusuf Mamman Dantalle; Bauchi State Chairman Auwal Isa; Bauchi gubernatorial candidate Dr Yakubu Adamu; his running mate Hon Mahmood Babamaji Abubakar; and other senior party stakeholders.
