Bauchi Trains Over 2000 LG Staff Ahead of 2026 Promotion Exams

The Bauchi State Government has trained 2,332 local government workers ahead of the 2026 promotion examination.

The participants, drawn from Batch A and B across the state’s 20 local government areas, are being trained by Dugge Management Services Ltd in collaboration with the Bauchi State Local Government Service Commission.

The workshop is the first phase of the exercise. The actual promotion examination will be held later this year.

Speaking at the opening, the chairman of the Local Government Service Commission said the training reflects the administration’s commitment to human capital development and improved service delivery at the grassroots.

He commended Governor Bala Mohammed for approving the conduct of the examination through the commission.

“The importance of this workshop cannot be overemphasised,” the chairman said. “It is a clear demonstration of government’s commitment to the upliftment of the local government service and to building the capacity of our workforce.”

He added that in the last seven and a half years, the administration had prioritised staff promotions and training as part of the dividends of democracy, to boost productivity at the local level.

He urged participants to take the sessions seriously and reciprocate the government’s investment with greater dedication to duty.

The Chief Executive Officer of Dugge Management, Alhaji Gambo Magaji, said eight retired senior civil servants were engaged as resource persons to take participants through critical areas of public service.

According to him, the facilitators and topics include the following: Alhaji Ahmed Lawan, Dokaji Misau — “The History of the Nigerian Civil Service: Local Government in Perspective”; Alhaji Ahmed Salif Jarmajo, Tabariki Misau — “Discipline and Disciplinary Procedures in the Public Service” and “Basic Tools of Administration”; Chief Emmanuel Ojogwu — “Local Government Staff Regulations”; Elder Dauda Traki — “Stores Regulations and Financial Memoranda” and “Public Procurement Law in Bauchi State”; Yakubu — “General Knowledge: Current Affairs, Local Governments Inclusive”; and Abubakar Hassan Usman — “Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Civil Service.”

Magaji told the participants that examination questions would be drawn from the eight areas.
“This is the opportunity you have, because whatever you are going to face during the examination is coming from these eight papers. I assure you, we are not going to ask you anything outside these eight papers,” he said.

At the close of the workshop on Thursday, the Director of training of the commission commended the leadership of the commission, including the chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Wabi, Wazirin Jama’are, and the permanent secretary, for their support.

He also appreciated the heads of administration of the 20 LGAs and staff officers for their prompt response, as well as the former director of training and the current director of administration and human resources, Alhaji Mohamed Bello Mohamed.

The director urged candidates to prepare for the written promotion examination scheduled for Saturday, 29 August 2026, at the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi.

The Commission said all arrangements for the examination have been concluded, and candidates are expected to report at the polytechnic as scheduled.
