Speaking earlier, the state commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mrs Koku Obiyai, said the transparency A briefing backed by law is to share with everyone the achievements of the Bayelsa State government through the management of its resources for the benefit of all in an accountable manner.
“Since the last transparency briefing we held, the government has continued to invest in ongoing projects, especially road infrastructure across the state; ongoing bridges are reaching their final stages of completion.
“While roads are achieving new milestones, work at the new stadium at Igbogene is receiving all necessary attention; the government is meeting up with its obligation to contractors on schedule.
The gas turbine has reached a critical stage of installation and commissioning; this is one project that is dear to the state, and we believe that in a matter of days or a few weeks, we will see light everywhere.
“The government has been working tirelessly to diversify the state economy; we have made serious investments in agriculture, the blue economy and marine transport. We are committed to promoting tourism and creating job opportunities for our people. As part of our efforts, we can say that the government has made significant efforts in the aviation sector. We have recently acquired two aircraft, and possibly, by God’s grace, after going through the requirements from the federal government, we will start to do business in air travel, and this state will become an aviation hub.
“As a government, we have also made some efforts to increase our economy in all aspects, and we believe that as a government, these efforts will make our state more attractive to investors and tourists. As we are committed to transparency and accountability, we will continue to inform you about our progress and achievements. We believe that with an informed citizenry, we enhance development, and we will work tirelessly to ensure that our people have access to accurate and timely information,” she said.
The commissioner thanks the media for the critical role they played in an effort to keep the state informed.
