In a ceremony marked by cordiality and shared purpose, Baze University on Wednesday received a courtesy visit from the management of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, as both institutions renewed their commitment to advancing medical education and healthcare delivery.
The FMC delegation was led by Chief Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer Prof. Saad Aliyu Ahmed, who paid a congratulatory call on Baze University’s newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abiodun Adeniyi. The visit brought together senior leaders from both organisations and reinforced a partnership focused on training, research, and community health.
Receiving the delegation alongside Prof. Adeniyi were Registrar Ahmad Mahmoud Lawi; Bursar Mrs Juliet Bature; Director of Academic Planning Prof. Hindu Jibril; and Dean of Student Affairs Mrs Walida Siddique Isa. Their attendance signalled the university’s eagerness to deepen collaboration with FMC Jabi across academic and clinical fronts.
“We are grateful for this thoughtful visit,” Prof. Adeniyi said. “Our relationship with FMC Jabi is foundational to producing skilled, compassionate healthcare professionals. Together we can strengthen clinical training, expand research opportunities, and deliver services that benefit our communities.”
Prof. Ahmed described the meeting as timely and practical, stressing the importance of hands‑on clinical exposure in medical training. “Partnerships between teaching institutions and specialist hospitals ensure students receive critical real‑world experience while enabling hospitals to benefit from academic research and fresh clinical perspectives,” he said.
Discussions during the visit identified immediate areas for cooperation, including expanded clinical attachments and internships for Baze students; joint research projects that address local health priorities; capacity‑building workshops for staff; and collaborative community outreach initiatives focused on preventive care.
Both leaders agreed to formalise a roadmap with clear timelines and measurable outcomes to translate the visit’s goodwill into concrete programmes.
A statement by Base University says the plan will outline shared resources, supervisory arrangements for student placements, and mechanisms to monitor progress and impact.
Observers say the renewed pledge between Baze University and FMC Jabi could strengthen the pipeline of well-trained health professionals in the Federal Capital Territory and beyond, while improving patient care through closer integration of academic research and clinical practice.
The courtesy visit concluded with mutual expressions of optimism and a commitment to convert the renewed partnership into tangible benefits for students, faculty, healthcare workers, and patients.
