The crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has deepened following a court decision nullifying the party’s national convention held in Ibadan, and the Board of Trustees (BoT) has summoned an emergency meeting in Abuja.
The development follows a ruling by the Court of Appeal of Nigeria, which affirmed the nullification of the PDP National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16, 2025.
In response to the judgment, the party’s BoT scheduled a meeting for Wednesday, March 11, to discuss the implications of the court decision and the next steps for the opposition party.
The meeting, according to a notice from the BoT chairman, Mao Ohuabunwa, is scheduled for 2 pm in Abuja.
Ohuabunwa also indicated that only the Board of Trustees constituted by the Abdulrahman/Anyanwu-led National Caretaker Working Committee, in line with the earlier decision of the Federal High Court of Nigeria and affirmed by the Court of Appeal, is recognised as the party’s legitimate BoT.
“This serves to formally invite all members of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 2 pm. The venue is 1, Sabo Ago Street, Life Camp, Abuja.
Note that this is the only BoT recognised as constituted by the Abdulrahman/Anyanwu-led National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC) pursuant to the Federal High Court decision and ratified by the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
“Kindly ignore any other notice purporting to call for a meeting of the BoT”, the notice read.
Senator Ohuabunwa also said that only duly notified BoT members will be accredited to attend the meeting and advised non-BoT members to stay away from the venue.
