Deputy Speaker Kalu Rejects Tracka Report on Bende Projects

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has dismissed a Tracka report on Federal Government projects in Bende Federal Constituency, describing it as false, misleading and politically motivated.

In a statement Thursday in Abuja, Kalu said the report misrepresented the status of several projects and noted that it was deleted from Tracka’s Facebook page less than 24 hours after publication.

The statement rejected claims that the 2km Amaeke–Isiegbu–Umuhu Ezechi Road was abandoned, insisting that the road has been completed and commissioned and is fully motorable, adding that the road is being used daily by farmers, traders, students and other residents, making the allegation of abandonment inaccurate.

On the cassava processing centres at Ezeukwu and Umuhu Ezechi, Kalu said the physical structures have been completed, with only the installation of processing equipment still pending.

He explained that procurement and installation of the equipment are the responsibility of the implementing Ministry, Department or Agency and not his.

The statement also dismissed claims that 579 solar streetlights across Igbere A, Igbere B and Ugwueke/Ezeukwu Wards could not be found, saying the lights are installed and operational.

According to the statement, the solar lights have improved security, supported evening business activities and enhanced safety in the affected communities.

He stressed that lawmakers facilitate and attract federal government projects but do not execute them, as implementation rests with the relevant MDAs.

Kalu invited authors of the report to revisit the project sites, insisting that the projects are visible and beneficial to residents while urging that public accountability should be based on verified facts rather than misinformation.
