Former Bauchi SSG Kashim Emerges 2027 NDC Guber Candidate

Former Secretary to the Government of Bauchi State, Barr. Ibrahim Mohammed Kashim has emerged as the 2027 governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, in Bauchi State.

Kashim formally accepted the party’s ticket on Friday and promised to build a united, prosperous, and inclusive Bauchi focused on education, healthcare, and economic growth.

In an acceptance speech delivered before party elders, traditional and religious leaders, delegates, youths, and women, the candidate dedicated the nomination to every young person searching for opportunity, every farmer striving to make a living, and every mother hoping for a better future for her children.

While appreciating God for the opportunity, the NDC governorship candidate unveiled a six-point agenda.

He said Bauchi’s potential, from the fertile lands of Katagum to Bauchi Central and Bauchi South, was being held back by unemployment, low farm incomes, weak schools, under-resourced hospitals, and poor infrastructure.

According to him, his administration would prioritise education by shifting from access to quality through teacher training and welfare, modernised learning systems, and stronger technical and vocational education.

He added that primary healthcare would be strengthened across all 20 LGAs, with improved drug availability and reduced maternal and child mortality.

Kashim also pledged to provide farmers with inputs and financing, improve storage and market access, and promote agro-processing to move from subsistence to prosperity. He said small businesses and artisans would receive targeted support.

For youths, he promised investment in skills acquisition, digital opportunities, and entrepreneurship, while women would get expanded access to finance, education, and leadership.

He further pledged to build rural roads to link farmers to markets, expand clean water access, and deploy sustainable energy solutions.

The administration, he said, would be guided by fairness, accountability, and openness under the principle “Bauchi ta mu ce baki daya”, “Bauchi belongs to all of us”.

Kashim urged NDC members to take a message of hope, competence, and real change to every ward and village and appealed to Bauchi voters for prayers and trust not just to win an election but also to build a future where no child is left behind, and hard work is rewarded.

Affirming the candidacy, Chairman of the Electoral Committee for the Bauchi NDC governorship primary, Paul Daniel, said Kashim emerged through a consensus process and was affirmed on Friday, May 29, 2026.
