The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) have expressed profound grief over the sudden death of Ms Gwamkat Gwamzhi, a dedicated journalist with the corporation.
In a statement issued by NUJ FRCN Headquarters Chapel Chairman Daniel Adejo, the union described Gwamzhi as an exceptional professional whose diligence and passion earned her widespread respect among colleagues.
“Her untimely demise is a huge loss to the NUJ, FRCN family, and the journalism profession,” the statement read.
Gwamzhi, who recently transferred from Highland FM Jos to FRCN Headquarters, excelled in the Political Unit of the News Directorate before her redeployment to the New Media Directorate. She was covering the petroleum beat at the time of her death, handling the role with notable commitment and courage.
A committed unionist, she previously served as an NUJ executive in Jos and remained active at the headquarters. Colleagues remembered her as cheerful, humble, and warm.
The NUJ prayed for eternal rest for Gwamzhi and strength for her family, friends, and colleagues.
