Governor Bala Unveils Adamu As Bauchi Guber Candidate

Bauchi State Governor Sen Bala Mohammed has formally declared his intention to contest the Bauchi South senatorial district seat since his recent defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the Allied People’s Movement (APM).

The governor, while addressing party members and supporters in a gathering at Government House, Bauchi, on Thursday, unveiled Dr Yakubu Adamu as the party’s 2027 governorship candidate in the state.

Citing an internal crisis in the PDP, the governor said, “Our original platform, the PDP, has been infected with cankerworm viruses that made our continued stay impossible. We joined APM to provide a platform to pursue our vision for sustainable development and the wellbeing of our people.”

He described the move as a commitment to Bauchi’s development rather than political opportunism, adding that his administration’s “My Bauchi Project” and the UNDP-backed Bauchi State Perspective Development Plan 2033 would remain the policy thrust.

“We are not opportunists. We are guided solely by the interest of Bauchi State and the wellbeing of its people. We cannot allow the state to return to an era of failed policies and mismanagement of public resources,” Mohammed said.

The governor thanked APM leaders for accepting him and his team without conditions and Bauchi South stakeholders for endorsing his Senate bid.

Presenting Dr Adamu as the governorship flagbearer, Mohammed described him as a leader with the experience, competence and vision to continue from where we shall stop.

He urged voters to elect credible candidates into the State Assembly and National Assembly to back the development agenda.

Mohammed, a former senator, said his experience at the federal level would help Bauchi attract more opportunities if elected to the Senate.

He assured that the APM campaign would be peaceful, inclusive, issue-based and focused on progressive ideas to move Bauchi forward.
