The Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed Vanguard (BAMV), on Monday, declared support for Gov. Bala Mohammed’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
The group also inaugurated its state and local government executives during a solidarity rally at the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic Hall in Bauchi aimed at supporting the governor’s leadership and his political movement, which they note has a direct positive bearing on the lives of the citizens.
Welcoming participants, Mal. Habibu Yakubu Umar said the governor’s decision came at the right time and was in the best interest of Bauchi State.
Addressing the gathering, BAMV Director-General and National Leader Comrade Mohammed Abubakar Jibo described the move as meticulous and patriotic, taken to ensure continued effective governance and sustainable development of Bauchi State beyond 2027.
“The decision of His Excellency to take the bull by the horns was born out of patriotism, sincerity and honesty of purpose, as well as his political dexterity,” Jibo said.
Jibo praised the governor’s seven-year record, stating that his administration had achieved more across Bauchi’s 20 local government areas than successive administrations in the past 43 years combined.
He described Mohammed as a leader, not a ruler; a giver, not a taker; and compared him to nationalists including Sir Ahmadu Bello, Tafawa Balewa, Obafemi Awolowo and Aminu Kano.
According to Jibo, BAMV and 72 other political and civil society groups have aligned with the governor’s shift to APM.
The coalition, he said, includes non-political groups and members of other parties.
“We strongly believe the decision was not taken haphazardly but after wide consultation, careful assessment and party scrutiny,” Jibo said.
“We equally believe in the governor’s ability, under the banner of APM, to pilot us to victory in the 2027 general elections.” He added.
The BAMV leader said the group would begin a statewide sensitisation tour to explain the governor’s defection to voters.
He urged Bauchi residents to rally round His Excellency to enable him to take us to the promised land.
