House Leadership Urges Prayers, Unity for Nigeria’s Renewal at Christmas

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas and his Deputy, Benjamin Kalu, on Wednesday extended Christmas felicitations to Christians and all Nigerians, calling for fervent prayers, interfaith unity, and emulation of Jesus Christ’s virtues amid deepening economic, security, and political challenges.

In separate statements issued in Abuja on Wednesday, the leaders highlighted the holiday as a pivotal moment for national rebirth, compassion, and resilience.

Abbas, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Musa Abdullahi Krishi, urged Christians, Muslims, and others to unite in seeking divine intervention for Nigeria’s crises.

“Christians should emulate the humility, holiness, courage, passion, humanity, and unwavering worship of God exemplified by Jesus Christ,” Abbas said.

He advised moderation and charity during the Yuletide to build goodwill, while noting ongoing legislative efforts to tackle insecurity and hardship.

Kalu, in a message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, emphasized love for the needy and collective progress.

“As we celebrate, let’s show love to the needy, reflecting the compassion and generosity of Jesus Christ. Let this season bring peace, hope, and renewal to our lives,” Kalu stated.

The Deputy Speaker praised Nigerians’ resilience, adding, “Together, we’ve faced challenges and grown stronger. Let’s look forward to a brighter future where every citizen has access to opportunities, justice, and prosperity.”

He enjoined continued prayers for peace and unity, wishing all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2026.
