Nigerian Army Liberates Alkaleri Communities in Major Anti-Terror Breakthrough

In a significant escalation of offensive operations against regional instability, troops of the 3rd Division Nigerian Army have successfully liberated the Alkaleri Local Government Area and dislodged terrorist elements from Mansur Village.

This breakthrough forms the centrepiece of the ongoing Operation BUGUN KARKANDA III, a strategic mission aimed at neutralising non-state actors and restoring civil authority to vulnerable communities across Bauchi State, a statement signed by the acting deputy director of army public relations, 3 Division Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Olukoya Victor, said.

According to him, “The operation was formally initiated by Major General Folusho Oyinlola, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE.

His directive signalled a sharpened military focus on reclaiming territories where armed groups had previously attempted to establish dominance, Olukoya continued.

“During the decisive advance into Mansur Village, Nigerian troops executed a well-coordinated assault on identified flashpoints. The intensity of the manoeuvre forced the terrorists to abandon their positions, allowing the military to seize control of the area.

“Following the initial combat phase, a comprehensive clearance operation resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, further degrading the insurgents’ ability to conduct future strikes against the population,” the statement said.

However, in the aftermath of the successful liberation, the military has transitioned into a stabilisation phase. Troops are currently conducting aggressive fighting patrols and high-visibility confidence-building manoeuvres throughout the Alkaleri LGA, Oyinlola said.

“These actions are designed to consolidate recent gains, maintain law and order, and prevent the re-infiltration of criminal networks that had previously disrupted the socio-economic life of the region,” he said.

The GOC lauded the resilience of the personnel involved, urging them to maintain their current momentum to ensure terrorists are denied any freedom of action.

Oyinlola reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to the safety of law-abiding citizens, noting that efforts are already underway to facilitate the safe return of displaced residents to Mansur Village.

“This operational success is viewed as a vital step in restoring public confidence, as the disruption of criminal networks allows for the resumption of farming and trade in what was formerly a high-risk zone,” he said.
