NSITF: Gov Radda pledges to support ECS

ABUJA —- THE Katsina State Governor, Dr. Umar Radda, has pledged his administration’s full backing for the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF’s Employees’ Compensation Scheme, ECS, emphasizing its role in safeguarding workers and driving economic growth.

The commitment came during a courtesy visit by Dr. Radda to the NSITF’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, where he was warmly received by the Fund’s Executive Management team.

Leading the delegation was Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Barr. Olúwaṣeun Faleye, alongside Executive Director (Administration), Barr. Samaila Abdu; Executive Director (Operations), Mrs. Mojisolaoluwa Alli-Macaulay; Executive Director (Finance and Investments), Mr. Ayodele Olufemi; and select Board members.

In his welcome address, Barr. Faleye reiterated the Fund’s unwavering commitment to fostering “a more productive Nigeria through safer workplaces.”

He highlighted how prioritizing workers’ welfare could significantly boost national productivity and economic vitality.

However, he expressed concern over widespread non-compliance with the ECS among many states and local governments—a gap that endangers millions of workers and hampers broader development goals.

Urging immediate action, Barr. Faleye appealed to Governor Radda to lead by example, ensuring full ECS compliance across Katsina State and its local government areas to protect employees and enhance service delivery.

For his part, Governor Radda disclosed that the visit also served as an opportunity to assess the performance of Barr. Samaila Abdu, the newly appointed Executive Director (Administration) and a proud son of Katsina State.

“It is my duty to check on our constituents serving at the federal level and ensure they are upholding the state’s reputation,” the governor stated.

The engagement underscores a growing partnership between federal agencies and state governments in advancing employee protections, with NSITF poised to expand its impact nationwide through collaborative efforts like this one.
