NYSC Boss Urges Staff to Prioritise Client Satisfaction

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator in Kebbi, Mr Bala Kagarko, has urged staff of the scheme in the state to demonstrate personal commitment to service delivery by handling clients’ complaints diligently.

Kagarko gave the charge on Monday during the 2026 Customer Service Week celebration organised for NYSC staff in Birnin Kebbi.

It was reported that this year’s theme is “Going the Extra Mile”, aimed at reminding staff of their responsibilities and the need to improve service delivery.

Addressing the staff, Kagarko said the programme was designed to remind them that excellent service delivery required more than simply performing routine duties.

According to him, it demands commitment, courtesy, responsiveness and a genuine desire to meet the needs of those they serve.

“As staff of the National Youth Service Corps, we have a responsibility to uphold the image of the scheme through professionalism, accountability and efficient service delivery.

“Whether attending to corps members, employers, parents, visitors or other stakeholders, our conduct should reflect the values and standards of this great institution.

“Going the extra mile means going beyond our job specifications by treating clients with respect, responding promptly to enquiries, providing accurate information and making deliberate efforts to resolve complaints.

“Sometimes, a simple act of kindness, patience or timely assistance can make a lasting difference in someone’s experience with our organisation,” he said.

The coordinator stressed that customer service was not the sole responsibility of the SERVICOM Desk, noting that every staff member had a role to play in ensuring satisfactory service delivery.

“Every member of staff, regardless of rank or department, has a role to play in ensuring that the public receives satisfactory service.

“We must, therefore, work together to eliminate unnecessary delays, improve communication and promote a culture of excellence in our secretariat,” he said.

Kagarko commended the SERVICOM Desk Officer and the Corps SERVICOM Vanguards for their efforts in promoting awareness of customer service standards.

He urged them to sustain their commitment and encouraged all staff to translate the lessons of the celebration into practical actions in their daily duties.

The coordinator said the success of the NYSC depended not only on the services provided but also on how effectively, courteously and responsibly they were delivered.

“I challenge each of us to make excellent service delivery a personal commitment and to continually seek ways to improve the experience of everyone who comes into contact with the NYSC,” he said.

The coordinator declared the programme open and wished the staff a successful Customer Service Week celebration.

An invited guest speaker, Musa Owuna, who delivered a lecture on Customer Service Awareness and Performance, urged staff to be conscious of their actions and attitudes towards clients.

Owuna said customer service awareness involved understanding how employees’ actions, communication, attitudes and decisions affected clients’ experiences.

He added that the ability to apply this understanding to meet or exceed customers’ expectations was essential to effective service delivery.

It was reported that five frontline NYSC staff members in Kebbi received commendation plaques in recognition of their contributions and performance in their respective roles.
