Plateau Tertiary Institutions Launch 2027 Campaign For Tinubu, Mutfwang

The Coalition of Plateau State Scholars has officially inaugurated coordinators for the “Plateau Academics for Caleb Mutfwang/Tinubu 2027”.

The movement pledges full mobilisation and strategic support to secure re-election for both the state governor and the president in the upcoming general elections.

Prof. Lazarus Maigoro, patron of the group and provost of the College of Education, Gindiri, in his opening remarks, lauded Governor Mutfwang’s rapid transformation of the education sector.

Within just six months, he said, the Mutfwang administration resolved funding crises that had lingered for two decades, saved institutions from accreditation failure, and regularised over 700 casual staff members to end chronic understaffing.

Extending its endorsement to President Bola Tinubu, the group specifically cited the implementation of the reviewed staff welfare package.

Maigoro emphasised that a motivated faculty is essential for national progress, urging academics to step out of the classroom and into the political arena to shape better governance.

On his part, the State Coordinator, Associate Prof. Augustine Azi, redefined the effort as an “intellectual movement” rather than a standard political lobby.

Representing a massive community of 15,000 academic staff and 350,000 students across 20 institutions, the group intends to use evidence-based advocacy and grassroots sensitisation to drive the 2027 agenda, they said.

Responding, Hon. Jeremiah Satmark, Chief of Staff to Governor Mutfwang, described the turnout of critical thinkers as unprecedented.

He reaffirmed the administration’s goal of making Plateau a national center for educational excellence and assured the scholars that their movement would be fully integrated into the broader 2027 campaign structure.
