Police Arrest Suspect After Stealing N1.5m Cow in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has recovered a cow valued at N1.5 million and arrested a suspect less than 24 hours after it was stolen in Gadau District.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Nafiu Habib said in a press release on Saturday that the theft was reported at Gadau Division on June 12 at about 5:30 p.m. by a 50-year-old resident of Mai Yashi Village.

According to him, the complainant said hoodlums broke into his home and made away with the animal.

Acting on the report, operatives launched an intelligence-led operation. On June 13 at about 1:00 p.m., they arrested 22-year-old Moh’d Dingi of Turu Village, Itas/Gadau LGA, and recovered the stolen cow as an exhibit.

Habib said Dingi confessed and named an accomplice now at large. He added that a discreet investigation is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect before both are charged in court.

Commissioner of Police CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu commended the division for its swift response and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling crime in the state.

The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movement around livestock and property to the nearest station.
