The Senate has condemned the rehabilitation of Boko Haram insurgents, bandits, kidnappers and other criminals under the deradicalisation and rehabilitation programme of some state governments in the north.
The Senate linked the unending insurgency crisis in the country, particularly in the northern parts, to the constant release of repentant criminals back into society.
The resolution, which was unanimously supported, followed the debate on the killings of military officers and troops by insurgents and the spike in criminal activities across the country during the Tuesday plenary.
The motion was moved by Senator Abdulaziz Yar’Adua, who is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Army.
