Tinubu at 74: Abbas, Kalu Laud President’s Leadership and Reforms

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has paid glowing tribute to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the occasion of his 74th birthday, describing him as a pro-democracy hero and visionary leader.

In a statement Saturday in Abuja, Abbas eulogised the President as a freedom fighter, philanthropist, political strategist and “builder of people across divides”, noting that Tinubu has played a pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s democratic journey.

The Speaker said the president has paid his dues over the years, adding that his political trajectory reflects a deep commitment to nation-building and democratic ideals.

He noted that Tinubu has built a strong network of progressive Nigerians driven by a shared mission to create a country citizens can be proud of.

According to Abbas, the president’s vast experience across the private and public sectors is evident in his stewardship, which he described as yielding “sterling performance” in office.

He pointed to reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda, saying they are repositioning Nigeria through far-reaching economic policies and better alignment of national resources.

The speaker said President Tinubu confronted the country’s challenges head-on upon assuming office, taking bold and difficult decisions that are already producing tangible results.

Citing his remarks at the APC National Convention, Abbas said, “Today, the foundations are being reset. Revenues to states have improved. Transparency has increased. Infrastructure is advancing. Security coordination is strengthening. These are not isolated steps. They are part of a clear direction.”

He also noted that the president’s leadership has strengthened the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), making it one of the most influential political parties in the nation’s history.

Abbas urged Nigerians to continue praying for the president, stressing that citizens across political, religious and ethnic divides stand to benefit from the administration’s policies.

He wished the president good health, longevity and the strength to sustain ongoing reforms beyond 2027, praying for wisdom and grace to lead the country towards peace, unity and prosperity.

Similarly, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Okezie Kalu congratulated the president, praising his visionary leadership and reaffirming his commitment to supporting the administration’s efforts to build a more prosperous and united Nigeria.
