Tinubu Has Done More for Kaduna Than Any President – Speaker Abbas

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has delivered more landmark projects to Kaduna State than any Nigerian president or head of state since Nigeria gained independence in 1960.

Speaking Saturday during the groundbreaking ceremony for 11 township roads across Zaria and Sabon Gari Local Government Areas, Abbas said President Tinubu’s administration has demonstrated exceptional commitment to Kaduna through investments in education, infrastructure and transportation.

The Speaker dismissed claims that the President favours only the South-West, insisting that Kaduna has become one of the biggest beneficiaries of federal projects under the current administration.

He challenged critics to identify any past leader who matched Tinubu’s achievements in the state within such a short period.

Abbas highlighted the upgrade of the Federal College of Education, Zaria, to the Federal University of Education, the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, the conversion of another federal institution into a university, and plans to upgrade Kaduna Polytechnic to a Federal University of Technology.

He also disclosed that Kaduna had been selected as one of only four cities nationwide to benefit from the Federal Government’s light rail project, describing it as a historic investment worth hundreds of billions of naira that would ease transportation challenges across the state.

The Speaker appealed to residents of Kaduna State to reciprocate President Tinubu’s support by voting massively for him in the 2027 presidential election, saying the administration’s achievements deserved appreciation at the polls.

Abbas equally praised Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for supporting the establishment of four additional federal institutions in Zaria and for approving land needed for the projects despite opposition from some quarters within the state government.

He further commended the governor for his consistent collaboration with the Federal Government and the National Assembly, noting that the partnership had accelerated infrastructure development and improved access to educational opportunities in Kaduna.

Governor Uba Sani attributed the ongoing projects in Kaduna to President Tinubu’s support, revealing that the President had approved ₦178 billion for the reconstruction of the Mando–Birnin Gwari road and that work on the project would commence within a week, adding that the proposed Kaduna light rail project would cost about ₦1 trillion.

The governor also expressed confidence that Abbas would return as Speaker after the 2027 general elections, saying President Tinubu had assured him that the position would remain in Kaduna.

He urged residents to vote overwhelmingly for the All Progressives Congress (APC), while assuring that the 11 township roads flagged off would be completed within five months.
