On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu sent a letter to the Senate requesting permission to appoint Mr Mainasara Illo as Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Anti-Doping Centre (NADC).
Tinubu’s request was made in a letter to Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Senate, which was read aloud in plenary on Tuesday in Abuja.
In the letter, the president stated that the request was compliant with section 15 of the Nigerian Anti-Doping Act of 2025. The president, in the letter, said that the request was in accordance with section 15 of the 2025 Nigerian Anti-Doping Act.
“I am pleased to submit for Senate confirmation the appointment of Mr Mainasara Illo as Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Anti-Doping Centre (NADC) for a four-year initial term in accordance with section 15 of the Nigerian Anti-Doping Act 2025. “In line with section 15 of the Nigerian Anti-doping Act 2025, I am pleased to present for confirmation by the Senate the appointment of Mr Mainasara Illo as Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Anti-Doping Center (NADC) for an initial term of four years
The letter stated, “Please accept the assurances of my highest regards, Distinguished Senate President, while I hope that the Senate will consider and confirm the nominee in its usual expeditious manner.” “While I hope that the Senate will consider and confirm the nominee in its usual expeditious manner, please, accept, Distinguished Senate President, the assurances of my highest regards,” the letter read.
Akpabio then referred the request to the Senate Committees on Narcotics and Sports for additional legislative input and to return to plenary “as soon as practicable”, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
