Trafficked Nigerians Return Home as NiDCOM and NAPTIP Coordinate Reintegration

Thirteen Nigerians rescued from a trafficking network in Ghana have returned home safely, with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) coordinating their reintegration into society.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, commended the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana for facilitating the rescue and repatriation of the victims, describing the effort as a strong example of inter-agency collaboration.

In a statement issued by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of the Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit of the Commission, Dabiri-Erewa also acknowledged the support of Oluremi Tinubu for consistently providing transportation and other assistance during rescue operations.

As part of the reintegration process, NAPTIP conducted profiling of the returnees, while NiDCOM provided the necessary logistics to ensure their safe movement back to their respective states.

The returnees were received in Lagos on behalf of the NiDCOM Chairman by the Commission’s Head of Operations, Mr Dele Ogunkanbi, as officials moved swiftly to begin post-rescue support and monitoring.

She reiterated concerns over the growing risks associated with irregular migration, warning young Nigerians against unverified job offers and travel arrangements abroad.
