Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, on Friday rounded off the third and final phase of his consultative tour across the Nasarawa North Senatorial Zone with a massive rally in Akwanga Local Government Area, where he presented his legislative scorecard and unveiled his development blueprint tagged the HEARTS Agenda.
The rally, which attracted a mammoth crowd from the 11 electoral wards of Akwanga LGA, further strengthened the growing momentum behind the senator’s governorship aspiration ahead of the 2027 elections.
Before addressing supporters, Senator Wadada paid a traditional homage visit to the Chun Mada, His Royal Highness Samson Gamu Yare, at his palace.
Speaking at the rally, the senator outlined his HEARTS Agenda — an acronym for Human Capital Development, Energy and Mineral Resources, Agriculture, Rural and Urban Development, Trade, and Security — describing it as a practical roadmap designed to consolidate and expand the achievements of Governor Abdullahi Sule.
Wadada assured the people that if elected governor of Nasarawa State, he would not only sustain the current administration’s developmental strides but also upscale them for the benefit of all parts of the state.
According to him, Governor Sule, who has publicly endorsed him as his preferred successor, is “handing over gold, silver and diamonds” to him on behalf of the Akwanga Zone, stressing that such confidence places a moral obligation on him to reciprocate by ensuring fairness, inclusivity and balanced development across the state.
The senator also used the occasion to preach unity and peaceful coexistence, urging the people to rise above ethnic and religious divisions in the build-up to the 2027 general elections.
He cautioned against electing leaders based on sentiments rather than competence, warning that sending an incapable representative to the Senate would diminish the political relevance of the zone.
Wadada equally declared his support for Governor Sule’s anticipated bid for the Senate, describing the governor as a servant-leader whose infrastructural footprint across the state, including flyovers, bypasses and rural road projects, has transformed Nasarawa State.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, said the senator’s presentation had further convinced many stakeholders that his proposed administration would represent a seamless continuation of the Sule administration.
Kwanta disclosed that an elder who attended the senator’s engagement a day earlier told him that Wadada came fully prepared with a documented blueprint capable of sustaining the developmental trajectory already established by the current government.
He assured the senator that the overwhelming turnout at the rally reflected the readiness of the Akwanga people to translate their support into votes during both the APC primary and the general election.
Earlier in a welcome address, Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area and ALGON Chairman in the state, Hon. Safiyanu Isa Andaha, appreciated supporters for their overwhelming encouragement to the administration.
The Matawallen Mada noted that Akwanga had never witnessed the scale of political inclusion and infrastructural development currently being experienced under Governor Sule since the return of democratic rule in 1999.
He therefore called on residents to remain steadfast in their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its endorsed governorship aspirant.
Also speaking was the National President of the Mada Development Association (MDA), Engr James Bashayi, who described himself as a former lecturer to Senator Wadada at the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, and vouched for the Senator’s competence and preparedness for leadership.
Bashayi urged the people to rally behind Governor Sule’s endorsement, insisting that the governor had identified in Wadada a worthy successor capable of sustaining and advancing his legacy.
He further called on supporters to ensure that the will of the people is clearly reflected at the polls.
The Akwanga rally marked the climax of Senator Wadada’s consultative engagements across Nasarawa North, following earlier visits to Wamba and Nasarawa Eggon local government areas, as political activities ahead of the APC governorship primary continue to gather momentum across the state.
