The newly re-elected National Chairman of the All Progressives (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, other leaders of the party and members that he will not fail them.
Yilwatda gave this assurance in his acceptance speech after his re-election and swearing-in at the APC National Convention in Abuja late Friday night.
The National Chairman and other members of the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, and non-NWC National Officers were elected through a consensus voting system as agreed by the party.
Apart from Ben Nwoye, who succeeded Emma Eneukwu, Enugu Deputy Vice Chairman, North East, all other NWC members were re-elected through a voice vote.
The newly elected officers include Deputy National Chairman, North, Abubakar Dalori, Borno; Deputy National Chairman, South East, Ben Nwoye; National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, Osun; Deputy National Secretary, Prof. Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana, Nasarawa; National Vice Chairman (North Central), Mu’azu Bawa Rijau, Niger; Dr Mustapha Salihu, Adamawa; National Vice Chairman, North West; and Mohammed Datti, Kaduna.
Others are National Vice Chairman, South-South, Victor Giadom, Rivers; National Vice Chairman, South West, D. I. Kekemeke, Ondo; National Welfare Secretary, Ignatus Nwapa, Abia; National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, Delta; National Youth Leader, Abdullahi Dayo Israel, Lagos; Special Persons With Disability Leader, Tolu Bankole, Ogun; and National Organising Secretary, Ibrahim Argungu.
Yilwatda said, “I give you clear and bold assurances that we will not falter. I will not fail you. Rather, together, we will step forward to be counted when it matters most.
“I urge our members and supporters to remain steadfast and united because we stand together stronger as a political party; with unity, progress will be steady and enduring, and our victories assured.”
Expressing gratitude to President Tinubu and other party leaders, he said, “Today, every officer elected at this convention is grateful. Thank you so very much. Let me assure this august gathering that I fully and completely accept this mandate with a full understanding of the way of history, the expectation of our people and the urgency of this moment.
“I know that from this day, the burden to provide quality leadership for the millions of our members from every ward, state and corner of this nation rests on our shoulders; I will take it with gratefulness,” he added.
