Yilwatda Rules Out Extension For Sales Of Party Forms Exercise

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Prof. Nentawe Goshwen Yilwatda, has said there would be no room to extend the ongoing sale of party forms to aspirants of different categories for the 2027 general elections in the country.

He, however, said there is enough timeline for activities, noting that if there is going to be any extension, “we will follow normal process”.

Prof. Yilwatda made this known on Wednesday while speaking with journalists after inspecting the sales of expression-of-interest and nomination forms at the Abuja Continental Hotel.

Recall that the party commenced its sales of forms to aspirants on Tuesday, 28 April, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu taking the lead, purchasing the presidential nomination and expression of interest for his second term in office.

“As we know, our party is one of the most democratic political parties in Nigeria. And as you can see, people are streaming in and buying forms freely, with no restrictions.

“Somebody has even picked a form to contest for the president; it shows the level of democracy we have in Nigeria. Sitting governors are facing challengers; the sitting president has someone challenging him; the senators have people challenging them. The number of people coming to contest in our party shows that it is the most acceptable political party in Nigeria.

“We do not have any challenge selling forms. The banks have been doing the needful; our staff are doing the clearance; people are being issued their forms; the department that deals with receipts has been receipting people, and there’s no complaint from our head desk.

“We have also been tracking the social media to see if people are complaining. We have not seen complaints on social media either. When it comes to quality of service, APC is one of the best at providing quality services to our members. So, we are confident that our party, the way we have a smooth ride, will have a smooth nomination process also, and that will help us win the election,” he said.

On inclusion, the party’s national chairman said inclusion is the issue here. “We build our party on inclusion. That ID we are seeing here.”
