Abbas, Kalu Urge Sustained Prayers, Unity As Muslims Mark Eid al-Fitr

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has congratulated Nigerian Muslims on the successful completion of Ramadan, expressing optimism that the nation is on the path to a “new dawn”.

In his Eid al-Fitr message on Thursday, Abbas said the prayers and supplications offered during the holy month would usher in renewed hope for Nigeria amid prevailing socio-economic, security and political challenges.

He noted that divine intervention, anchored on the prayers of the faithful, has continued to sustain the country’s unity, peace, and stability.

The speaker urged Muslims to uphold the virtues of piety, selflessness and charity imbibed during Ramadan, stressing that Nigerians must not relent in seeking God’s guidance for a better society.

Abbas also highlighted the coincidence of Ramadan with the Christian Lenten season, describing it as a “divine arrangement” that underscores unity and the shared commitment of Nigerians to faith and national progress.

Similarly, the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, extended his felicitations to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, urging them to sustain prayers for peace and unity in the country.

Kalu, in his Sallah message, called on the faithful to reflect on the values of sacrifice, compassion, resilience, and optimism, especially in the face of economic challenges.

He assured Nigerians that the government and the parliament are working diligently to address national issues and improve citizens’ living standards.

“The parliament remains committed to legislative actions that drive economic growth, create opportunities, and improve the well-being of all Nigerians,” he said.

The Deputy Speaker further encouraged Muslims to continue adhering to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad and to pray for enduring peace and unity in Nigeria.

Both leaders wished Muslims a joyful Eid al-Fitr celebration and prayed for the acceptance of their sacrifices and devotion during the holy month.
