Abbas Urges Tinubu Campaigners to Focus on Achievements

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas has urged campaign organisations supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to focus on presenting the administration’s achievements to Nigerians.

Abbas spoke Thursday in Abuja when he received the National Executive Council of Relax Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria (RTIFN), a socio-political organisation backing the President.

He urged campaigners to engage Nigerians with facts, patience and maturity, warning them not to be distracted by criticisms, confrontations or provocations ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Democracy grows stronger when citizens understand public policy, ask informed questions, and participate peacefully,” Abbas said.

He said the Renewed Hope Agenda was addressing structural challenges with the aim of strengthening the economy, expanding opportunities and improving institutions.

The Speaker said support for the administration should not be based on slogans but on explaining how government policies affect citizens through roads, education, skills, agriculture and small businesses.

“Credible advocacy admits that reforms impose costs. It explains the objective, listens to hardship, and communicates the relief and opportunities available to citizens,” he said.

Abbas urged RTIFN to verify its claims against official sources, correct mistakes promptly and create channels for citizens to ask questions and report challenges.

He also advised the group to reach women, youths, persons with disabilities, artisans, farmers, traders and communities beyond party structures.

The Speaker urged the organisation to avoid insults, threats, ethnic appeals and misinformation, stressing that political support must remain within the law.

Abbas, who accepted his appointment as Grand Patron of RTIFN, also called for a comparative assessment of Tinubu’s achievements and those of previous administrations.

“It is not just what Tinubu has done, but compare it with what his predecessors have done,” he said.

The group’s Deputy Director-General, veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji, said RTIFN had compiled what it described as the administration’s achievements and would soon release a compendium on them.
