The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, has officially launched the National Youth Data Bank (NYDB), a strategic initiative designed to strengthen evidence-based planning, improve policy formulation and enhance the delivery of targeted youth development programmes across Nigeria.
Speaking at the launch, the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, emphasised the importance of sustained collaboration among government institutions, state governments, educational institutions, development partners, the private sector, civil society and youth organisations.
He noted that the initiative goes beyond data collection and storage, as it is designed to better identify young Nigerians and connect them with opportunities in skills development, employment, entrepreneurship, internships, digital programmes and other youth-focused interventions.
The Minister also stressed the importance of inclusion, privacy, accuracy and responsible data management, particularly in ensuring that young people in rural and underserved communities are not left behind.
The vision of the National Youth Data Bank is clear: “Know the Youth, Understand the Youth, Connect the Youth and Empower the Youth.”
The launch marks an important step towards translating reliable youth data into meaningful opportunities, targeted interventions and measurable development outcomes for young Nigerians.
