The River State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on voters in the Ahoada East and Khana Local Government Areas of the state to participate actively in the bye-election scheduled to be held in the two constituencies on Saturday, supporting candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The two constituencies where elections will take place to fill vacant seats in the State House of Assembly are Ahoada East Constituency 2 and Khana Constituency 2.
Fubara made this call in Port Harcourt on Friday, describing the election as a family affair, urging the people to come out en masse to support the candidates of the ruling party contesting for the two vacant seats in the state legislature, as contained in a statement on Friday from the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Fubara, Onwuka Nzeshi.
“We call on our people, particularly in areas where the elections will take place, to remain peaceful and law-abiding throughout the exercise.
“Everybody should be law-abiding and avoid doing anything that will disturb the peace of the garden city during the exercise. It is actually a family election, and there is no need for rancour and acrimony,” Fubara stated.
Meanwhile, the State Police Command has ordered the restriction of movement in the two LGAs, beginning from 1200 hours to 6 pm on Saturday.
