Senator Shehu Buba Vows To Probe Bauchi’s Use of Resources

Sen. Shehu Buba Umar of the Bauchi South Senatorial district, on Saturday, vowed to question how Bauchi state resources have been managed under the current Peoples Democratic Party administration.

Addressing supporters gathered in Magaman Gumau, Toro Local Government Area, Buba said his campaign will focus on transparency and improved governance.

“We are in receipt of a detailed analysis conducted by an independent body of experts on the projects executed by the government and at what cost,” Buba told the crowd.

“Naturally and objectively, these findings have given rise to certain valid questions, and we are going to ask the right questions.” He added.

The senator, a member of the All Progressives Congress, said his team has verifiable data on revenue received by the PDP-led state government over the past seven years.

“Given every variable in place, particularly the huge revenue and other resources that have been made available to the government, the fact remains we can do better,” he said. “In fact, we have to do better. That is why we are in the race.”

Buba said his decision followed “deep reflection, wide consultations, and overwhelming calls from across our dear state”.

“I stand before you today with humility and gratitude to Allah to formally declare my intention to contest for the office of Governor of Bauchi State in the 2027 elections,” he said.

“I seek your support, your prayers, and your partnership. Together, we shall build the Bauchi of our dreams,” the senator added.

Shehu Buba Umar promised to release a knowledge and information-driven policy blueprint in the coming weeks, describing it as a “multi-sectoral presentation of where we are as a state, where we ought to be, and how we should get there.”

“Reading through the blueprint, any doubt about our readiness to get it right for Bauchi would have been fully erased,” he added.

Quoting the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto, Buba said, ‘Tell the truth about us; tell us the truth about others.’ Now the truth of the matter regarding the struggle to liberate our people and make Bauchi the real developmental hub it should be is that there is no alternative to working hard and even harder.”

He pointed to projects in Bauchi South as evidence of what his administration could deliver statewide.

“Given the dividends of democracy being experienced in Bauchi South, which is evident to all and sundry, if given the chance under our amiable platform of the All Progressives Congress, we shall replicate the same in the entire Bauchi State,” Buba said.

“Bauchi has to be great again. In-sha-Allah, we are the agents and instruments of achieving the noble dream.” He said.
