Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has picked the All Progressives Congress (APC) expression of interest and nomination forms to contest the Kaduna Central Senatorial District seat.
Senator Sani was among the first to pick up the nomination forms in Kaduna amid widespread speculation about strong backing from state actors.
The initiative signals his formal, triumphant entry into the race ahead of the 2027 elections, as political activity intensifies within the ruling party.
Senate, Sa ni, a rights activist-turned politician who previously represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, remains a prominent voice in Nigeria’s political landscape.
His decision is expected to shape the contest’s dynamics in the district, given his grassroots appeal and political experience.
Party stakeholders and observers say the development could heighten competition among aspirants seeking the APC ticket in Kaduna Central.
Earlier, our correspondent reported that the sale of forms will run from April 25 to May 2, 2026, while submission of completed forms closes on May 4, 2026.
Screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 6 to May 9, 2026, covering State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, governorship, and presidential aspirants in phases.
Primary elections will begin on May 15, 2026, with the House of Representatives, followed by the Senate, State Houses of Assembly, governorship, and presidential primaries, and will end on May 23, 2026.
