TCN Announces a Four-Day Power Outage in the Ondo Region

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned preventive maintenance exercise at the Ife/Ondo 330/132 kV and 132/33 kV Transmission Substation. This maintenance is scheduled to take place from Monday, February 2, to Thursday, February 5, 2026.

In a statement on X, TCN indicated that the maintenance will be conducted daily from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The goal of this exercise is to enhance the reliability of electricity transmission in the area.

During the maintenance, TCN’s contractor will decommission an old wave trap and install a new one at the Ife/Ondo substation. Additionally, the project will involve replacing single-circuit towers on the Ife/Ondo 132/33kV line with new double-circuit towers.

As a result of this maintenance work, there will be an interruption of the bulk electricity supply, which will prevent the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) from supplying power to customers in Okitipupa, Ondo, and the surrounding areas throughout the maintenance period.

TCN regrets any inconvenience this planned outage may cause and assures customers that the bulk electricity supply will be restored immediately after the maintenance work is completed. The company emphasised that this exercise is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the national transmission grid and ensure a more stable and efficient power supply.
