Two members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Gombe State House of Assembly have officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), according to Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya. The Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has received two members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Gombe State House of Assembly who formally defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers are Hon. Malon Nimrod Yari, who represents Shongom Constituency, and Hon. Gabriel Galadima Fushison, who represents Kaltungo West Constituency.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, his Deputy, Hon. Sadam Bello, and other key Assembly members escorted them to the governor’s office.
The lawmakers who defected claimed that Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s inclusive style of governance, excellent leadership, and outstanding performance throughout the state were the reasons behind their decision, according to a statement released by the governor’s director general on press affairs, Isma’ila Uba Misilli.
They stated that the governor’s fairness, approachability, and dedication to equitable development persuaded them that working together to further Gombe State’s development agenda was the best way to return the favour.
Governor Yahaya welcomed the lawmakers and said that their defection was a testament to his administration’s people-focused policies.
He emphasised that the APC continues to be a platform for unity, advancement, and service to the people while promising them equal treatment, cooperation, and full integration within the party.
The governor also praised the Gombe State House of Assembly’s leadership and members for their ongoing collaboration with the executive branch, stating that the state’s current peace, stability, and progress depend on the friendly relationship between the two branches of government.
Yahaya expressed optimism that the APC would win the 2027 general elections, not just in Gombe State but throughout the nation, if the party maintained its unity of purpose.
