The All Progressives Congress, APC, has revised its timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections, shifting the presidential primaries to May 23 and the governorship primaries to May 20, 2026.
Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Durosinmi Meseko, made this known while briefing journalists at the end of the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, meeting on Thursday in Abuja.
Accompanied by the party’s National Leader, People With Disabilities, PWDs, Tolu Bankole, the APC deputy spokesperson also said the State House of Assembly primary election will take place on May 20; Senate primary elections, on May 18; and the House of Representatives primary election, on May 15, 2026.
Recall that the APC in the Timetable and Schedule of Activities released on Monday fixed the presidential primary election between May 15 and 16; the House of Representatives, May 18; the Senate, May 20; the State Houses of Assembly, May 21; and the governorship, May 23, 2026.
Meseko also announced the release of the schedule of activities and timetable for the 2026 Ward, LGA, and State congresses in Zamfara State, beginning next week, Tuesday, April, and running through 28, 2026, and running through May 3, 2026.
He further stated that the NWC adopted the mode of primary elections as provided in the Electoral Act, the direct and consensus mode, with a caveat that members are at liberty to choose any.
“Aspirants are free to decide their preference in accordance with the Electoral Act. Where there is consensus and an aspirant disagrees, it automatically reverts to direct primaries.
“All aspirants must agree to the direct option; if not, the consensus option reverts to direct primaries,” Meseko stated.
The Deputy National Publicity Secretary also dismissed rumours that the APC’s expression of interest and nomination forms were exclusively reserved for a few, saying the forms are open to all party members aspiring to elective positions.
“There was also a rumour that forms would be restricted or limited to certain individuals. I am here to inform all party faithful and aspirants that nomination forms for all aspirants seeking offices under the All Progressives Congress are open.
“Nomination forms are open for all members of the All Progressives Congress contesting elections,” he added.
On membership registration, Meseko said, “All newly registered members of the APC have had their updated list transmitted to INEC. We did an earlier submission, and an update has now been transmitted. We are now fully compliant with established rules.
“I also have to inform you that the All Progressives Congress is now fully ready for the upcoming primary elections,” he added.
