Governor Bala Mohammed has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to meeting its statutory obligations to the National Youth Service Corps in Bauchi State.
The governor gave the assurance on Thursday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II corps members posted to the state for their one-year mandatory service.
“The people of Bauchi State appreciate and support the goals and objectives of the NYSC. My government has been collaborating with the scheme in every possible way to ensure its success in the state.” Governor Mohammed said.
Addressing the new corps members, he described the NYSC programme as a catalyst for accelerated national development and urged them to approach national service with utmost seriousness.
“The future of this country rests in your hands. You have a crucial role to play in shaping our collective destiny, and you must not misuse this unique opportunity,” he said.
“It is now your responsibility to seize this opportunity and make the best use of it during the orientation exercise. May I urge you to justify the trust the nation has in you?” the governor added.
Earlier, State NYSC Coordinator in Bauchi, Umoren Kufre, commended the governor for his support, citing the complete renovation of corps members’ hostels and the construction of a new multipurpose hall at the orientation camp.
“May I also use this opportunity to register our profound appreciation to the governor for his intervention in rebuilding the broken parts of the camp perimeter fence, which had posed security threats to the camp community,” Kufre said.
“We equally remain grateful to him for prioritising the welfare and security of corps members in the state.” He noted.
Kufre, who disclosed that 1,700 corps members were posted to Bauchi for the batch, added that the corps members would initiate community development projects designed to benefit their host communities directly.
Justice Aliyu Idris, who represented the State Chief Judge, Rabi Talatu, administered the oath to the corps members.
