“I want you to know you’re not forgotten.” The government remains committed to assisting you not only with relief interventions but also with long-term recovery initiatives such as livelihood support, farming projects, and organised plans for your safe return to your ancestral homes,” Iorpuu said.
The BSEMA Executive Secretary went on to say that distributing relief materials is an important step in the organisation’s ongoing commitment to alleviating the hardships of those displaced by insecurity and other emergencies in Benue State.
“This initiative is more than just about distributing relief supplies. It is about restoring hope, reaffirming dignity, and demonstrating that the government is attentive to the needs of its citizens, particularly the most vulnerable among them.”
Iorpuu emphasised that Benue State Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia continues to prioritise humanitarian aid, safe return, and sustainable resettlement of displaced people.
He stated that the distributed items include essential food commodities to meet immediate nutritional needs, as well as non-food items to improve living conditions in the camps and surrounding communities.
“We recognise that, while relief materials cannot replace lost homes or livelihoods, they do provide critical support and temporary stability while we work towards long-term solutions.”
Iorpuu thanked humanitarian partners, security agencies, community leaders, camp officials, and the dedicated staff of Benue SEMA for their tireless efforts in making this initiative possible. He recognised that their collaboration had strengthened the response framework.
He emphasised the importance of maintaining order, patience, and mutual respect, stating that they will continue to collaborate to build resilience and restore stability across communities.
