ACReSAL Distributes 40 Tractors in Bauchi, Targets N150m IGR

The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) has distributed 40 tractors to 20 local government areas in Bauchi State, aiming to help smallholder farmers embrace mechanized farming and for the state to generate N150 million in internally generated revenue (IGR) in 2026.

The Bauchi state project coordinator of the ACReSAL, Dr Ibrahim Kabir, while speaking at the distribution ceremony in Bauchi last weekend, said that last year, 20 tractors generated N36,785,000.

“If we can generate 36 million with 20 tractors, we hope that in the year 2026, rainy season, we will be able to generate over 150 million,” he said.

The state project coordinator stated that ACReSAL will engage 2.6 million smallholder farmers in mechanised farming and has also distributed 9 pieces of heavy equipment and 100 motorcycles to beneficiaries.

According to Dr. Kabir, other heavy equipment provided for Bauchi State by the ACReSAL includes bulldozers, excavators, and others.

He also disclosed that ACReSAL is partnering with the LGAs in Bauchi state to support the smallholder farmers migrating to mechanized farming.

“But we have to be very watchful to make sure that we will be generating revenue using the tractors. In the last rainy season of the year 2025, we generated 36 million 785 thousand in Nigerian currency,” he disclosed.

“We have two segments of the project. We decided to start with the distribution of these 40 tractors, nine pieces of heavy equipment, and 100 motorcycles so that the national project coordinator can register this project as an implemented project,” Dr. Kabir further stated.

He commended Governor Bala Mohammed for encouraging agricultural extension in Bauchi State, stressing that ACReSAL has trained over 100 agricultural extension workers.
