Bauchi Governor Lauds Tinubu, Military Over Destruction of Bandits’ Camps

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Office of the National Security Adviser for their decisive action in addressing security concerns in the state.

Speaking after a closed-door meeting with security agencies and traditional rulers from affected communities, the governor said that recent military operations dismantled bandits’ camps in the Dajin Madam Forest in the Alkaleri Local Government Area.

“Soldiers overran bandits’ camps and destroyed their logistics in the Dajin Madam forest,” Mohammed said.

He noted that the offensive involved ground and aerial operations backed by intelligence across forest corridors linking Bauchi with Plateau and Taraba states.

According to him, the operation neutralised numerous bandits hiding in Dajin Madam Forest and adjoining areas in Taraba State.

Bala Mohammed said warplanes bombed bandits’ locations, clearing several camps and disrupting criminal activities, leaving many suspects neutralised while others fled under sustained military pressure.

“Several motorcycles used by the criminals were destroyed, limiting their mobility and operational capability,” he added.

The governor said troops have established a firm hold within the forest to consolidate gains and prevent re-infiltration by fleeing bandits.

To sustain the progress, Mohammed announced new surveillance measures, including biometric data collection and intelligence-led monitoring of markets, motor parks, and public spaces.

He announced that the state will partner with the National Identity Management Commission and other federal agencies to profile residents in vulnerable communities and track population movements in high-risk areas.

“We are taking these measures to ensure that no space is left ungoverned or unmonitored so that criminal elements cannot regroup or threaten our communities again,” he said.

He commended the Armed Forces and intelligence units, saying sustained operations have significantly disrupted the logistics and mobility of criminal groups.

The governor urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and remain vigilant, adding that the state is intensifying collaboration with traditional institutions and federal authorities to guarantee lasting peace across Bauchi State.
