NIMC Intensifies Ward-Level NIN Enrolment Nationwide

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has said its ongoing ward-level enrollment drive for the National Identification Number (NIN) is progressing steadily across the country.

The exercise, which commenced on February 16, 2026, is aimed at deepening identity coverage by decentralising registration to the ward level and bringing enrolment centres closer to the grassroots.

In a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, the commission reiterated that the NIN remains a mandatory requirement for accessing critical government services in Nigeria.

NIMC urged citizens and legal residents who have yet to enrol to take advantage of the exercise by visiting designated ward enrolment centres within their localities.

The Commission advised prospective enrollees to check its official website to confirm the nearest registration point, cooperate with officials, and ensure they provide accurate and complete information during the process.

It also encouraged members of the public to rely solely on verified information from its official communication platforms, including its website and social media handles, to avoid misinformation.

According to the commission, pre-enrolment can be carried out online through its portal, while data modification services are also available via its self-service platform to ease the process for Nigerians.

NIMC further disclosed that its toll-free customer care line remains open for enquiries and support as part of efforts to ensure a smooth and transparent enrolment exercise.

As part of its digital identity expansion, the agency called on Nigerians to download the NINAUTH app on iOS and Android devices to access enhanced digital identity services.

Reaffirming its commitment to inclusive identity coverage, NIMC appealed to all eligible Nigerians and residents to come out en masse and register, stressing that assured identity remains central to national planning, security, and service delivery.
